One of the most popular types of footstools that we produce at Footstools & More is the ottoman. The name derives from the Ottoman Empire in Turkey when it was a type of furniture somewhat different from a footstool.

However, today, an ottoman is basically a large footstool that can hold perhaps two or even three pairs of feet in comfort and has a lid which opens so that you can use it for storing things in as well. The kids’ toys, books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, the TV remote, your laptop, your mobile, some dog biscuits - anything that you need to hand in the living room but which you don’t want to make it look as though it has just suffered from a hurricane. Shove them all away in the ottoman, and peace reigns!

One of our most popular ottomans is a black ottoman. Leather always looks classy, and a black ottoman in leather or Idaho, which is a faux leather, really stands out when you have visitors. Not only does it look great, but you can use an ottoman as seating if you have a party or several dinner guests. A large ottoman can easily hold three people.

More Than Footstools

But at Footstools & More we don’t just make footstools – although we do produce a lot of them. We also do “more”. Hence our name. So, we make headboards for your bed, cushions in a wide choice of designs and fabrics, and trays.

Yes, a large serving tray is a vital item for many households, especially when you have family and friends around for dinner. Everyone is seated in the dining room, and you can use your serving tray for, well, serving things from. Who would have thought it? You have to bring in warmed plates and all of the different foods that you have prepared which are in basins and so on, and you plonk the tray on the table or the sideboard and then serve the food from there.

You can do a lot more with a large serving tray as well, even when you are not using it for serving. So, you can pop it on the top of your ottoman and use it to hold your laptop so that you can chat away on Facebook or Twitter. Or even work. You can do your knitting on it. And it’s great for holding a nice vase of flowers on when you don’t need to put your feet up during the day.
